Interview

Born in Rome in 1961, I moved to Milan in 1989.
Architect, probably genetically “addict” to the Far East, from 2008 up to 2014 lived and worked in Seoul for
long periods.
Eclectic in temper, he has spent a lifetime cultivating artistic expression in parallel to his profession and with
methodical discontinuity. An “indispensable need” as he usually states.
Lives and works in Varedo, Monza e Brianza, at the north of Milano.

Statement

Why pens and notebooks?
Years ago, accomplices a lot of travel, I started to use notebooks and gel pens for my artistic needs, and I
found it a suitable way to express myself. I open a notebook and start drawing and writing, or writing and
drawing, on the central double page only. I use black gel pens, sometimes red. Once finished, I like put the
open notebooks, mid air suspended, inside a plastic box, transparent but not invisible frame.
Do you draw or write?
Everything that comes to my mind, I write it down, as a litany, a mantra, a sort of dripping of words that I let
go to melt on the pages. But text only interests me for its graphic and aesthetic strength, to me it is not to be
read and, to be honest, I feel a little ashamed when I see people trying to read it.
What about castles, ships, architecture?
Architect, architecture can’t stay out of my thoughts, it is my medium to describe my vision of life, the
condition of life, I use big ships for the same goal, big ships are architecture at the same. The first architecture
drawing notebook took shape during a walk in the surroundings of my mother Diana’s hometown, and partly
also of my silent father Mario, Trevi, in Umbria, Italy. Here, countryside farmhouses are carved stone blocks
among the trees.
May be there is in my DNA something of a remote amanuensis monk, not only for the handwriting, but for
the world that I represent

Eremi project
Architecture can’t stay out of my thoughts, it is my medium to describe my vision of life, the condition of life.
Eremi, are among the presences that characterize my most recent artistic production. Eremi never stop, they
are in constant motion, silently observing and silently taking care of what is around them.
Perhaps they were born men, then they changed in the shape of restless, suspended architecture, perhaps
metaphors of the human condition. Eremi don’t spend too much time together, but they’re not alone, they’re
not isolated, they like to share thoughts and reflections, but to do this they don’t need, and they probably
don’t want to be too close, Eremi love their independent condition, and, to share thoughts and reflections,
it is very likely that they know how to communicate one another through thoughts, in quantum resonance.
